Border Collie Training

We are upgrading our training area for border collies! Since training has picked up and we have more sheep than ever, we decided it was time to create an area specifically for dog training. We leveled out a field that is too small to be utilized by the groups of sheep we run now and created a perimeter fence for the dog work area. Inside the area we have a small round pen and a medium oval pen. The small round pen is for starting young dogs on stock. The medium pen is where we keep the goats for the next level of dog training. The biggest area is the next step up and once we feel the dogs are ready they will be taken out on our big groups of sheep for some practical or real life working situations.

With all of the different spaces and situations we are able to put the dogs in we believe it gives us a unique training ability. We are currently training border collies for farm work and for goose control. We are hoping to have puppies this fall!
